“Gwanghae, The Man Who Became King” was one of the most successful Korean movies in 2012. The film was invited to the London Korean Film Festival 2012 where it screened as the closing film.
Storyline: Gwanghae, the 15th king of the Joseon Kingdom (Korean state that existed from 1392 to 1910), lived in fear of being assassinated. To protect the king, his liegeman Heo Gyun finds a working-class man Ha Seon, who is the king’s doppelganger, and orders him to act as his double. Problems arise when Ha Seon is called upon to replace the king temporarily.
