Flights to and from Jeju will be subject to a 1,100 won increase in the fuel surcharge from March 1, according to domestic aviation news sources.
A one-way domestic trip will have a 13,200 won fuel surcharge. This was just 4,400 won in 2009 but is the same as March of last year, according to a Korea.net report from 2012.
The surcharge, which is reviewed and revised every two months, is meant to reflect volatile changes in the global price of fuel oil.
The month of March marks the start of the spring tourism season on Jeju.
