Now in its 14th year, this music concert takes place in the greater Yongyeon area of Jeju City and has been providing visitors with a variety of performances including poetry readings, musical events, plays and films during the evening.

Location: Yongyeon and surrounding locations of the Yongduam neighborhood of Jeju City.

Opening Event

  • “Make a Road” pungmul (traditional Korean folk music) performance – Yongduam 1-dong, 2-dong Folk Preservation Society.
  • Performance by the Ansan Korea Music Orchestra of film music from “Cinema Paradiso,”Old Boy,” “The Little Mermaid.”

Main Concert

  • A reading of the poem “Horizon” (written by Yang Jung Hae) and a shamanic ritual performed by the Tamna Folklore Art organization.

Part 1: Theme: The Past of Jeju. Jeju horses gallop across the island.

  • “The Spirit of Goguryeo” by the Ansan Korea Music Orchestra.
  • A taepyongso (conical oboe) solo “Sinawi” by Kim Myung Han.
  • Traditional dance performance by Kim Hee Sook and Kang Jin Hyung.

Part 2: Theme: The Present of Jeju. Scent of tangerines in the warm southern country.

  • ”Ssukdaemeori” and “Ship afloat!” by Korean traditional music singer Park Eun Kyung.
  • ”Wandering” performed by the Ansan Korea Music Orchestra.

Part 3: Theme: The Future of Jeju. Jeju spring water.

  • Tenor Hyun Hang Bok sings “Sailor’s Song” (Cho Du Nam) and ”Departing Ship (Byun Hoon).”
  • Children’s songs “Spring signs” “Leaf boat” “Green sea” performed by the Childrens’ United Choir.
  • A group performance by a number of local choirs.
