With recent highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks on the mainland, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province urgently requests the cooperation of Jeju residents

1. In order to prevent Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) from spreading here, it is requested that citizens avoid contact with migratory bird habitats and poultry farms.
2. Up to this point, no humans have been infected by HPAI. Therefore, citizens are asked to continue consuming Jeju-raised chicken, duck and egg products.
3. In order to prevent the spread of HPAI, disinfection efforts are in place at Jeju International Airport and the island’s marine ports. Though it is an inconvenience, the government requests your cooperation in these essential measures.
4. With HPAI spreading on the mainland, from midnight on January 18, 2014, the import from other provinces of chicken, duck and eggs, among other poultry products, is prohibited.
